EASTENDERS started the year with a bang and the soap shows no sign of letting up with plenty more surprise exits and harrowing storylines.
Here is everything you need to know about who’s leaving Walford in another explosive year full of several dramatic exits in 2019…
Hunter Owen (Charlie Winter)
Hunter Owen, played by Charlie Winter, only arrived on EastEnders in 2017, shortly after his on-screen mum Tamzin Outhwaite reprised her role as Mel Owen.
But, the actor has been axed from the BBC Soap and already filmed his final scenes as the psychotic teenager after bosses decided the character had run his course.
The axing came as a surprise for viewers with Hunter being at the centre of one of the show’s biggest storylines, having murdered his step-father Ray Kelly.
Producers are keeping tight-lipped on how the teenaged killer will depart the soap, with numerous exit theories emerging.
Dr Harold Legg (Leonard Fenton)
Dr Harold Legg, played by Leonard Fenton, returned to Albert Square in 2018 having last appeared on the soap in 2007.
But he won’t be around for much longer as he’s set to reveal the heartbreaking news that he’s dying.
EastEnders bosses previously said that Harold’s return storyline would be “emotional”, and the sad scenes are set to air in spring 2019.
The Sun revealed classic duo Lofty and Mary The Punk are to return to Albert Square after 30 years after the death of Dr Harold Legg.
Alfie Moon (Shane Richie)
The former Queen Vic landlord, played by Shane Richie, is set to take a break from the soap as he stars in West End musical Jamie on January 28 2019.
The show is set to run until May 2019 so it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing much of Alfie in Walford in the foreseeable future at least.
His exit storyline saw Alfie Moon renege on his deal to return his daughter Cherry to Hayley, played by Kate Jarvis.
The wheeler-dealer faked his own death to abduct baby Cherry in a shocking plot twist before the pair departed for Calais.
