Rewind a couple of seasons and Lanky Louis won a stack of top handicaps and was on speed-dial for some shrewd operators.
Unfortunately he’s been as fashionable as a Val Doonican cardigan over the last year and was ending an 11-week losing run when Artair won a sprint at Lingfield on Wednesday.
It looks as if Louis’s tick-tock timing is still working though and with any luck this likeable `long fella’ could be back in business.
The results at Lingers were double difficult and one lumpy cash punter had an absolute mare when he did a nasty four figure sum by jumping the wrong way in a match between Court House and Scarlet Dragon.
The fella in question stormed off to the car park with the raging hump, only to bolt back white as a sheet and start rummaging through the bins like a fox at midnight.
It turned out he’d lost two grand in cash out of his sky rocket, instantly turning a bad day into a diabolical one.
Luckily for our punting pal a board-man from rails bookie John White found the dosh and handed it back pronto.

A convoy of regulars schlepped round the M25 to Kempton’s evening meeting, where Ryan Moore was back in action after enjoying a bit of winter sunshine in Barbados.
The great man was there to partner Jeremy Noseda’s Cenotaph (11-10 to 8-11) and the word from the yard was that he was ready to rock’n roll and fully expected to win.
The horse was bet accordingly, but there was a flurry of late support for super smart Stuart Williams’ Keystroke (10-1 to 11-2) and he pounced fast and late to chin `nose-bags’ disappointing jolly.
A combination of sub-zero temperatures and getting beat on a short one didn’t put much of a grin on Ryan Moore’s boat, and he was last seen heading for the warmth of his motor at top speed.
William Haggas’ Alkaamel (11-4 to 2-1) had three bagels next to his name, but that didn’t stop him being heavily punted before running away with a mile handicap.

The Steward’s announced they wanted Haggas to explain the improved form, prompting a good pal of his to announce “they’ll have a bit of a wait, he’s on holiday in South Africa!”
Sir Mark Prescott doesn’t miss the target too often but the yard must have left a few quid behind when Yvette (66-1 to 6-1) finished well beaten after being a massive market mover in the novice event.
She looked greener than a vegan’s lunch box, but money talks and I reckon this one is capable of much better. Talking of dark horses, I’ve had a good word for an un-raced one from Nicky Henderson’s called Felony.
Hendo’s got the best team of youngster’s since Sir Matt Busby coached his `babes’ and I’m told this fella is a bit useful.

CHARBEL (2.05 Kempton) has improved since having an operation on his back and will take plenty of
catching.
There’s a stack of classy action under both codes today and Kim Bailey’s CHARBEL (2.05) is fancied to make-all in a valuable Listed chase at Kempton.
He’s looked a different horse since having his back sorted out in the summer and should be right at home on this speed favouring track.
