Back in January of 2016, we kicked off the very first #ChiveFit challenge to support Chivers with the mission to get in shape. Every year, millions of fitness goals are made, and millions of fitness goals are forgotten. When we finished the first Chive Fit, we were blown away by the transformations we saw from the folks that stepped up to the challenge.
We found thousands of posts on just Instagram alone showing that the Chive Community wasn’t just here to party, it’s here to support. Chivers began documenting their goals, progress, and tips to share with each other and the yearly challenge has been going strong ever since; this upcoming Chive Fit will be the fourth installment of the social fitness movement.
How does it work? It’s simple: just get up and move. Commit to doing some physical activity every day, and stick to it for an entire month. This year we’re rocking from January 2nd until February 2nd.
Some pull and row until they sweat all the beer out of their system from the weekend prior.
Some Chivers like @liftwanderpanda enjoy lifting heavy objects. Very heavy objects.
@limamike17 likes to dance along to his favorite Mean Girls scenes.
Our newest addition to Team Chive Nation, Ryan, has fully committed (got suckered) into Cam’s super serious running program.
The beautiful thing is, everyone’s goal is different. Whether it’s taking pants off for the Cupid’s Undie Run to help raise donations to discover a cure for Neurofibromatosis or Polar Plunging into freezing cold waters to raise donations for Special Olympics, it never hurts to go in with full body-confidence.
And many Chive Chapters have went the distance. From the first Chive Fit, OK Chive went all in and set up group workouts for their members, along with showing off member’s progress on their very own pages. And some of the transformations are nothing short of amazing:
Ollie began his fitness journey when his back began to hurt after being diagnosed with early stages of degenerative discs. Doctors told him to lose some weight, so he did just that. Now he’s running in 5K’s and throwing weights up almost every day to keep in shape.
@chivevaughn’s own words on her progress: “I started doing #ChiveFit a couple years ago. As a former college athlete I have always known what it takes to get in shape, but after having two kids, motivation gets to be lacking. With my busy schedule and life as a military spouse, Chive Fit was fun, and just the dose of competition that I needed to kick myself into shape.”
Victor found out he was having a baby and decided he wanted to set an example for his boy, so he started to hit the gym. Now that he’s a bit older, he takes him to the chapter’s community cleanups and other kid-friendly events to show the importance of not only being physically fit but being fit of character as well.
Nikki was weighing in at nearly 300 pounds at one point. After dedicating herself to a routine, she’s seen her mentality change from barely working out to training for full marathons. But her true motivation: “I hope to eventually leap tall buildings in a single bound and be able to crush skulls with my thighs.”
Inspiration can be found throughout this entire community. And 2019 has another surprise: this year, all of Chive Nation is able to follow Colorado Chivette Christina Luna as she competes in upcoming athletic competition The Titan Games. Representing dental hygienists everywhere, Christina will be going head to head with some of the top athletes in the country to win.
It wasn’t long ago when she had her second daughter, weighing just over 200 pounds and unable to do a single box jump when she decided to train to keep up with the energy of her children. Coming from a military background, she transitioned her fitness routines from military exercise to CrossFit workouts.
When asked about how to tackle a new, physical challenge, Christina says: “Pick something you enjoy doing. Everyone usually sees someone they look up to, like a bodybuilder and try it and realize they don’t like it. So you have to enjoy doing it; it’ll make you motivate and excited to do it.”
As Chivers chase their own fitness glory, Chive Nation will be tuning in to cheer on one of our own. So lookout for the watch parties with your local Chive Chapter as we channel our inner #ChiveLUNAtics to watch Christina compete with the best of the best!
So run, lift, or dance – do whatever keeps you moving closer to get #ChiveFit. When the motivation starts lacking, hop online and see what your fellow Chivers are up to. Chances are, you’ll find the support you need in this amazing community.

Hayden Panettiere
Size: 8
Age: 18
Height: 5ft 1in

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.
Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”
Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
kim cattrall
Size: 10-12
Age: 52
Height: 5ft 8in
Weight: 9st 4lb
SATC star Kim swears by gym sessions with Russian kettle bells (traditional cast-iron weights) and the South Beach Diet to give her the body she wants. To avoid overeating, Kim has a radical diet trick – squirting lemon juice on her leftovers – so she won’t carry on picking.
Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
