KEVIN Hart has tweeted asking for “understanding” after he was slammed by Don Lemon over a series of homophobic tweets.
After the tweets were unearthed, Kevin stood down from his gig presenting the Oscars.
Kevin’s post comes a day after he appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show to defend himself.
The comedian, 39, wrote: “When did we get to the point where we forgot that we all learn, then we all have the ability to grow and with that growth comes a wealth of knowledge.
“You can’t change without a understanding of what GROWTH means. #Message #LiveLoveLaugh #HappySaturday …..Please grasp this and use it in 2019.”
He also said: “Basketball players aren’t great until they learnt to play the game correctly.
“Teachers are great teachers when they learn how to through to kids correctly.
“CEO’s are not great until they learn how to run a business correctly.”
His message finished with a comment that could be seen as an observation on the media furore surrounding Kevin’s homophobic tweets.
He wrote: “A news anchor or journalist does not start at the top… they have to learn and develop to be great at their job.”
CNN news anchor Don Lemon, who is openly gay, previously criticised Kevin’s appearance on Ellen.
He said: “Kevin, if anything this is the time to hear other people out, to hear why they might have been offended.
“I don’t see any meaningful outreach to the community… and now you want the conversation to end.
“To many they [apologies] seem insincere, and that he has somehow turned himself into a victim instead of acknowledging the real victims of violent and sometimes deadly homophobia.”
Don added: “Someone like Kevin Hart can be a leader — the ultimate change agent — he can help change homophobia in the black community.”
Kevin’s appearance on Ellen was controversial as Ellen herself, a powerful gay figure in the media, defended Kevin’s tweets.
She also asked the Academy to give Kevin back his job as host of the Oscars.
Kevin stood down from the job in December.
The comedian made the announcement on Twitter, saying he did not want the alleged offensive posts to be a “distraction on the night”.
According to reports, the tweets are more than a decade old.

Hart – who had previously described the gig as a “dream come true” – had earlier refused to apologise for the tweets, saying he had already addressed the issues.
One from 2011 that read: “Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay.”
Other tweets still live on Hart’s Twitter include messages like: “I just saw a n***** put a whole chicken wing in his mouth and pull it out with no meat on it!!!!!! God damn that was gay.”
