In 2013 theCHIVE took a trip up to Kansas City, Missouri, for a Royals game and a mega meetup. KC Chivers had been calling for a meetup for months, so when the office calendar showed the first open weekend, half of the office booked their flights to the Heart of America.
The goal was to get all of the Chivers in the city off of their phones, into a baseball stadium, and raising donations for KC Pet Project, a local animal shelter… and to have a few beers. A warm, Midwest welcome was to be expected, what took us by surprise was that there was already a large group of Chivers, well known in their city for all of their charitable work.
The baseball meetup ended up raising $10,000 for the KC Pet Project, which was a huge success.
And we had a great time at the afterparty – always a bonus.
But when we returned home to CHIVE HQ, we knew we found something special happening in Missouri; we found the local Chivers who would soon form KC Chives On.
This chapter has since then been on the mission to transform their city for the better and for that, we’re proud to call KC Chives On the next Bona Fide chapter of Chive Nation!
Over the years, the group has gathered thousands of items to distribute for the less fortunate.
Winter gear, food, clothing, and even toys are all collected for distribution.
There is no exaggerating when it comes to this chapter, their accomplishments, and what they offer to local Chivers. They bring scores of Chivers to local Royals games, organize food and clothing drives throughout the year, and fully support their local first responders.
One of their members in particular, Ryan Morton, was a prominent figure within the KC group and a local law enforcement officer. A veteran that served two tours in Afghanistan before returning to Clinton, Missouri, to become a police officer, Ryan was a respected member of the community, a man most looked up to. Tragically in March of 2018, Officer Ryan Morton was killed in the line of duty.
It devastated the group. When they gathered together to help the family, they wanted to memorialize their fallen friend. After learning that the Morton family was taken care of financially, they decided to dedicate a bench for fallen officers to be placed inside the Clinton Police Department.
Tremendous work by this group.
Bad things happen. The trick is, to enjoy the good things whenever you can. So KC Chives On raises a toast – to the fallen, to the living, to those in their pursuit of making the world a better place. For as long as they can, they are committed to making the world 10% happier… one hundred percent of the time.

A full day kicking off with their early morning Polar Plunge, their meetup weekend is sure to be a Bona Fide celebration.
