New photo Girl, 4, banned from bus as driver brands her Peppa Pig scooter as a ‘weapon’

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl was banned from a bus because the driver deemed her Peppa Pig scooter to be a “weapon”.

Little Autumn Keeley was told her pink scooter was going to be a problem as she tried to board with her mum in Thetford, Norfolk.

Autumn’s mum Holly Chapman, 28, had already taken the scooter on one bus to go into the town centre earlier in the day.

But when they tried to get the T3 service home, Holly was shocked by the driver’s accusation.

She said one person boarded the bus ahead of them with a trolley and the driver didn’t bat an eyelid, Eastern Daily Press reports.

Holly said: “Autumn then got on and he looked at me and said ‘We have got a problem’.

“I said ‘Oh, what’s wrong?’ And he said he couldn’t let us on because she has a scooter and it is classed as a weapon.

“I said ‘Are you joking? And he said ‘No, I’m serious’.”

Holly added that she thought society had gone mad for thinking her four-year-old daughter was holding a weapon.

And Autumn now think she’s not welcome on the bus.

The driver eventually explained to Holly that the scooter could be a hazard to other passengers on the bus, even though they’d already travelled with it.

They were ultimately allowed on the bus after a ten-minute discussion with the driver.

But Holly claims a female employee of Coach Services, which operates the service, told her she should “review her parenting”.

A spokesperson for the firm denied Holly and Autumn were stopped from getting on the bus and said the comment on her parenting was highly unlikely.

They added: “The driver probably used the wrong terminology by calling it a weapon.

“He asked her to keep the scooter in a seated area so it doesn’t become a hazard in an emergency situation as it could injure passengers.

“We try as much as possible to accommodate all as safely as possible.”
