EMMERDALE viewers have gone mad for the soap’s newest star – a onesie-wearing pig called Spamela Hamderson.
Fans, relieved to have a break from the utterly dark Maya/Jacob storyline, went wild for the porky newcomer, who was quickly dubbed “Spam Dingle”.
Fans quickly heralded the arrival of the pig, who has been brought in to replace the cruelly-slaughtered Gloria.
One tweeted: “SPAMELA has arrived.. Can’t believe I’m so excited about a pig! 
.”
Another wrote: “Spamela Hamderson has got to be the BEST name for a pig!”
A third raved: “Just me that thought naming the pig on emmerdale ‘spamella hamderson’ was hilarious ?”
The onesie-wearing newcomer got a warm reception from viewers
Some even thought Spamela was putting her human co-stars to shame, writing: “That pig is a better actor than half of them in #emmerdale.”
However, not everyone wanted Spamela to stick around, with one viewer writing: “That is Such a cute pig…bacon roll anyone?”
It was Sam Dingle who introduced the newcomer in tonight’s trip to the Dales, announcing: “Spamela Hamderson, eh, Best actress ever.”
He added: “When we were kids we always used to get piglets when we needed cheering up. Reckon it might do trick.”

Well, amid the darkness in Emmerdale at the moment, it might just do that.
However, clearly everyone had forgotten the family’s previous pig.
Poor Gloria was discovered by Sam dead in the pig pen after becoming the victim of Lachlan’s dad, who has killed her on the orders of his evil son.
Don’t worry Gloria, we haven’t forgotten you.
