New photo Dover bosses shoot down Project Fear warnings as they vow No Deal Brexit WON’T stop boats or trains crossing Channel

BUSINESS chiefs today killed off Project Fear warnings over Brexit – vowing trains and boats wouldn’t be affected by No Deal.

The Port of Dover said it was ready for Britain to leave the EU without a deal.

And the firm that runs the Channel Tunnel promised trains between the UK and France will continue to run as normal whatever happens.

A leaked memo from Dover bosses says: “We will continue to manage our infrastructure professionally and our team stands ready to handle whatever comes our way.

“We look forward to welcoming customers on March 29, March 30 and far into the future.”

It warns that tougher border controls could slow down the port’s operations but insists it will be prepared, according to Sky News.

Eurotunnel, the operator of the Tunnel, issued a statement today in the wake of last night’s Brexit defeat for Theresa May.

The firm said: “We have adapted our infrastructure so that, with or without a deal, traffic flow through the Tunnel will be maintained.

“Eurotunnel is currently working to ensure that new post-Brexit border controls will have no significant impact on Tunnel traffic.”

Eurostar passenger trains, car trains operated by Le Shuttle and freight trains all use the line under the English Channel.

Remainers have previously warned that Dover, Britain’s most important port, would be totally shut down by a No Deal Brexit.

Officials have dredged the port of Ramsgate to allow it to take on extra capacity if Dover is overwhelmed.

But today’s reassurances suggest key bottlenecks will be able to survive Brexit.
