CHELSEA’S pursuit of Mauro Icardi is on course but the Blues face competition from several European giants.
The Inter Milan striker’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has revealed her client is “very far” from reaching a deal over a new contract.
And the Blues will push ahead with their interest in the £100million-rated Argentinian, 25.
Wanda, 32, admitted: “The renewal of Icardi with Inter is very far away today. We are far from reaching an agreement, we have not yet received a satisfactory proposal from Inter.
“I do not deny that on any moment we can reach an agreement, but today we are very far.
“There are very important clubs interested in Mauro, the two most important clubs in Spain, with whom we have excellent relationships, plus an English and a French team”.
Wanda explained that Inter were unwilling to offer Icardi – who has 13 goals in 20 starts this season – a pay rise.
And she insisted they will not accept a low-ball offer in a boost to the chasing pack.

The beauty added: “It is not logical to renew the contract for the amount of money that Mauro already earns.
“We believe that Mauro deserves more.”
@philipppleinofficialIcardi missed Inter’s first day of training after the Seria A winter break.
But Sky Sports reported that the absence was over a missed flight back from his homeland and the eight-cap international quickly informed the club.
