CES 2019 explained – what is it?
CES is a major consumer electronics show that takes place in January ever year.
The Las Vegas, USA event draws tech firms and gadget fans from around the world, and has been running on and off since 1967.
It’s typically attended by major names like Samsung and Sony, and this year runs from January 8 to January 11.
But most of the news will drop just before those dates, during pre-show press conferences on Monday.
CES 2019 latest news and trends
Here’s what we’ve seen so far:

- Kohler revealed a toilet powered by the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant, which lets you control things like the heat of your loo seat using your voice
- Netatmo launched a smart video doorbell that can detect burglars, and let you shout at them from anywhere in the world using your smartphone
- Halfords revealed a smart bicycle range called Cybic, which features the Alexa voice assistant, smart lighting, GPS mapping technology, and even a thief tracker
- LG showed off a rollable television that can disappear completely, and will go on sale later this year. The South Korean tech giant also created HomeBrew, a coffee machine-style device that serves BEER. Yes please!
- Sheri’s Ranch is the closest legal brothel to Las Vegas, and is trying to hook gadget fans attending CES 2019 with a new Alexa-powered ‘sex tape room’ that automatically creates your very own smut flick – starring you

This year we’re also expecting lots of talk about super-fast 5G internet, with companies teasing 5G-ready gadgets and talking up a sci-fi 5G future.
Smart speaker tech is also likely to be a big trend, given the booming popularity of digital assistant gadgets like the Amazon Echo, Google Home and Apple HomePod.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”
Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
