NEW laws are to pave the way for anti-drone missiles to be deployed at airports to prevent a repeat of the Christmas chaos at Gatwick.
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling last night revealed new measures to arm the police with counter-drone kit – and extend a no-fly exclusion zone for drones to three miles around every major airport in the UK.

Sources said the powers would enable civilian authorities to equip themselves with military-style counter measures as well as signal blockers and ‘hunter drones’.
Mr Grayling also revealed police will be able to slap on-the-spot fines of up to £100 on anyone who refuses to land a drone when asked or produce a registration certificate.
The Tory, shamed over the drone fiasco at Gatwick before Christmas, was due to outline his plans to MPs in the Commons last night.
Aviation Minister Liz Sugg said: “Drones have the potential to bring significant benefits and opportunities, but with the speed of technological advancement comes risk, and safety and security must be our top priorities.”
