This is the shocking moment a gang of masked men attacked a woman with metal pipes as she tried to defend her home.

The mob smashed up a car and before striking the woman with metal pipes as she stood outside her home in Leicester screaming at them.

The victim was forced to retreat to her doorstep as the thugs continued to aim blows at her arms and body in the video, posted anonymously to social media yesterday.

The clip begins with the camera filming from the front door of a residential house at night, looking out at the church grounds and a row houses leading away.

There is the sound of what appears to be a car being smashed up, and then the distinctive sound of a metal pipe clattering against something.

What appears to be a youth, with his hood up and his face covered, swings a metal pipe at a women standing in front of the house entrance.

The woman, with long dark hair and wearing a white top, is highly distressed. She screams at the youth: 'You motherf***er, get out.'

There are screams from behind, and the youths on the street can be seen running to and fro.

The hooded youth with the metal pipe then strikes the woman defending the front door, the sound discernible as the pipe hits her.

He strikes her repeatedly, pointing at the entrance to the house, but she holds strong, screaming for the door behind her to be closed.

A woman holding a wooden stick then comes into view on the left hand side and fends off the hooded youth with the metal pipe.

The gang are all pointing towards the entrance of the house, and it appears as though they are trying to gain entry or goad someone out.

Many of the gang can be seen milling in the streets, holding pipes, with one holding what appears to be the silhouette of a large knife or machete.

One woman holding a wooden stick stands at the pavement, defending the house, as another man or woman stands beside her for support.

The woman with the white top, who has been hit by a metal pipe, stands at the front door still screaming and swearing at the gang.

The gang then flee up the road and away before the clip ends. It has now been viewed more than 80,000 times.

The exact location is not clear in the video, and Leicestershire Police said it could not provide MailOnline with any details about the incident without a road name.
