I got absolutely drenched on the way into the office this morning – but that doesn’t mean I won’t be raining in the winners!
The lousy weather has only made me more hungry to extinguish the bookies’ happiness and I’ve got some crackers to go to war with on Wednesday.
Hexham
1.50 Take A Break – It wouldn’t take Einstein to work out that Mark Walford’s contender is in the form of his life.
He dismissed a nineteen-runner field last time out with the arrogance of Derek Zoolander and looks up for the fight off only a 5lb higher mark.
Course form is vital and he struck over fences here on his penultimate start. He’s two from two since moving to his current trainer and can chalk up a hat-trick.

Chepstow
12.40 Solstice Star – Expect Richard Johnson to work some wizardry at the Welsh track.
His mount is beautifully handicapped off just a 3lb higher mark than when winning at the course last time.
Not only that, but the eight-year-old is rated nearly two stone below his peak and now he’s rediscovered some confidence, this should be his for the taking.
Johnson is a shrewdie from the front and the field should be playing catch-up for most of the contest.
Bully's Wednesday Bankers
12.40 Chepstow – Solstice Star
1.00 Warwick – Marienstar
1.50 Hexham – Take A Break
5.50 Wolverhampton – Spirit Of Zebedee
7.10 Kempton – Alfredo
Warwick
1.00 Marienstar – She probably won’t be any sort of price but you just can’t ignore the stand-out claims of magical Marienstar.
She sluiced up by a bigger margin than Frankel in the Queen Anne last time out and is set to be raised a stone by the handicapper.
However, she sneaks in here under just a 7lb penalty, and with Jack Andrew’s useful 7lb claim is effectively almost a stone well-in.
She should get an easy lead and although this is a slightly better race than last time, if you can get into a good rhythm at Warwick, they’re not going to catch you.
Kempton
7.10 Higher Power – It’ll take a good one to lower the colours of Higher Power.
He travelled as sweet as sugar in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle last year before grinding out victory, and he’s now operating off the same mark.
Critics will cry that he’s not been in good form since but he’s only had his conditions twice – when finishing behind the smart Weekender and when given no chance from a hopeless position in this year’s Pitman’s Derby.
You can ignore his run in the Mallard at Donny where he clearly needed it, and that will have set him up nicely for this.
In four runs at the track he’s finished 3112 and jockey George Wood is one of the best young riders about, so everything is in place for a big effort.
Wolverhampton
5.50 Spirit Of Zebedee – There’s no getting away from John Quinn’s speedball.
He escapes a penalty for winning an apprentice handicap at Lingfield five days ago and will be too hot to handle if as effective on tapeta.
Two wins from his last three starts flank a very good second in a large field at Redcar and he’s clearly on the improve.

Hayden Panettiere
Size: 8
Age: 18
Height: 5ft 1in
Weight: 8st
To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.
Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”
Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
kim cattrall
Size: 10-12
Age: 52
Height: 5ft 8in
Weight: 9st 4lb
SATC star Kim swears by gym sessions with Russian kettle bells (traditional cast-iron weights) and the South Beach Diet to give her the body she wants. To avoid overeating, Kim has a radical diet trick – squirting lemon juice on her leftovers – so she won’t carry on picking.
Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
