SABRINA The Teenage The Witch star Nate Richert has revealed he sometimes works as a caretaker and handy man.
The 40-year-old actor – who played heartthrob Harvey Kinkle in the hit 1990s teen series – said he needed to take on other work that “pays the bills” in between stints on TV and in films.
Last week pictures surfaced of The Cosby Show’s Geoffrey Owens working at supermarket Trader Joe’s in the US, and Nate took to Twitter in his defence.
He wrote: ““I’ve been an actor for 32 yrs (since age 8).
“I’m extremely lucky to have had any success at all, let alone solid work in film and TV for 6yrs (20yrs ago).
“I’m currently a maintenance man, a janitor, a carpenter, and do whatever random jobs I can get to pay the bills.
“I do improv and songwrite to maintain my sanity.
“Actors so very rarely have job security or consistent work, quality healthcare, a reasonable retirement.
“We are actors anyway because it is who we are at the core, for the love and need to bring the words on the page to life and to make you feel them (god, I love to make you laugh!)
“Not for fame, at least not in the traditional sense. Fame, to me, has only ever meant “maybe more work someday.”
“A necessary evil because fame = the loss of anonymity, which can be uplifting when it brings someone joy, and hard when mean
people decide to be mean.
“Geoffrey Owens is an actor of a very high calibre; long before and long after playing ‘Elvin’ on Cosby.
“I can’t wait to see what’s next. #GeofferyOwens #ActorsWithDayJobs #SabrinaTheTeenageWitch”
After finding fame on the show, the he left the industry to get into music.
Pictures showed Nate with a big beard.
The show that made him famous is set for a reboot later this year.

It has been reported the sweet teen comedy is being given a massive shake up.
Writers confirmed the script would be far darker than the original series, which was on air from 1996 to 2003.
According to Variety, the series is described as being “tonally in the vein of horror classics like Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist”.
