LISA O’NEILL was Jamie Osborne’s beach babe as she helped him towards a three-timer with successes aboard Florencio and Waqaas at Laytown on Thursday.
The British trainer’s treble was completed by Monumental Man on what was a memorable day for owners The Melbourne 10 in the seaside sunshine.
Osborne’s annual pilgrimage has become a thing of legend across Laytown’s sandy racetrack.
Having saddled a winner at the course in each of the last two years, this time around he grabbed the beach booty with both hands, striking gold three times as well as picking up plenty of place prize-money.
All of the trainer’s horses were running in the bright orange of owners The Melbourne 10, who were represented by ten horses overall after leasing out two others to trainers Johnny Murtagh and Tom McCourt.
However, the syndicate were denied a happy ending in the last as McCourt’s My Good Brother was just touched off after a long scrap up the shore with eventual winner Tyrconnell.

Osborne was delighted with the performance of his horses, though admitted he was very nervous before red-hot favourite Florencio took the honours in the third race on the card.
When asked for his reaction after the contest, he said: “Relieved!
“I was surprised he was odds-on in a handicap, but we bought him because of his split mark and it worked.
“The beach is very different to the English all-weather, so there’s always a doubt, but that has taken the heat off.”
The British trainer’s second winner came courtesy of Waqaas in the following race.
The raider was given a beach of a ride by Lisa O’Neill, who’d also partnered Osborne’s first winner, and she said afterwards: “The lads are here to enjoy themselves, so it’s great for them. They were very good to give me the rides.”
Monumental Man brought up the hat-trick for Osborne and his cronies, having only joined the yard after winning a seller last week.
“We’ll be back next year, the boys love it. It’s an annual event for us and there’s going to be no shying away,” Osborne said.
