A top Barclays banker has been charged with the murder his dressage fan wife who was found with fatal injuries at the remote stables near their Cheshire home.
Ann Marie Pomphret, 49, was found with serious head injuries at the stables near Warrington on the evening of Friday November 2 last year and died at the scene.
David Pomphret, 50, who is listed as an associate vice-president at Barclays on his online CV, has been charged with her murder, a Cheshire Police spokesman said.
Pomphret, of Masefield Drive in Winwick, was arrested by police as part of their inquiries at the time of her murder and later released on conditional bail.

A police spokeswoman said he was due to appear before Chester magistrates on Thursday after being charged and remanded in custody on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs Pomphret was discovered shortly after 10.05pm when police were called to stables in Old Alder Lane in Burtonwood following reports of concern.
The couple, who live in a £500,000 home in the village of Winwick, Cheshire, were married for 21 years and have at least one daughter, Megan, 17.
In a tribute, her family said: 'Marie was a beloved daughter, wife and mother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family out in nature, looking after their horses.
'We are devastated that she has been taken from us so young and in such a senseless way.'

She and Megan, who took part in competitions and is described as a talented young rider, were both keen horsewomen and well known in the dressage community.
Friends and colleagues praised her contribution to the sport at the time of her death.
Debbie King, owner of Somerford Park Farm, an equestrian centre in Congleton, Cheshire, said: 'Marie did so much for dressage.
'She was incredibly knowledgeable about the rules, scoring, judging, everything to do with it.
'She endlessly volunteered to help out at events – she gave so much of her time. She was an amazing, selfless person.
'Megan was a talented dressage rider, but the sport was Marie's life as well. They had a lovely relationship.'
