KATE Beckinsale’s “diva” demands stunned cast and crew as she filmed new drama, The Widow

She insisted chefs chop meat into precise 1cm cubes which were cooked then reformed into shape so she could track exactly how much she ate.

Kate, 45, also had an assistant follow her around with a freezer box of ice chips which she ate by the handful.

And she insisted on being able to smoke anywhere and anytime as she made the ITV thriller in South Africa.

It meant producers had to get costly extraction fans installed in her hotel suite.

An insider said: “All the cast and crew who witnessed these bizarre demands being pandered to were bewildered.

“They were used to producing British dramas with regular British TV stars instead of a Hollywood actress.

Kate plays Georgia Wells, who leaves Britain to search for her husband who she thought had been killed in a plane crash in the Congo.

A spokesman for makers Two Brothers Pictures declined to comment on the specific demands, but said: “We do all we can to make sure cast and crew are happy.”
