COPS are probing whether a love triangle was the catalyst for a deadly new year’s arson attack that killed three people.

A murder probe has been launched after the remains were discovered following the “ferocious” inferno in Kirton, Lincs, on January 1.

According to reports, the house was owned by ex-chef Paul Edmunds and wife Donna, both 54-years old.

It is believed they moved to Ilfracombe, North Devon to run a hotel, sometime last year, according to the Daily Mail.

A source told the paper that police are looking into whether a suspect found dead in the house was part of a love trio with two other victims..

Staff at their hotel, which they shared with their daughter Jay, 27, and son Liam, 24, refused to comment.

Police confirmed today the three victims were a woman, aged 27, a male, aged 24 and a 32-year-old man who were all British.

A hero neighbour has described the dramatic moment he rescued a woman from a devastating house fire.

Quick-thinking John Holland has described how he rushed to the burning home with another neighbour after seeing flames shooting through the roof.

The 68-year-old had been woken up by his Jack Russell, Benny, barking in the early hours of the morning when he saw the fire.

He said: “The flames were coming up through the roof and it was well ablaze.

“There was no smoke in the downstairs, and we could see a lady in the downstairs window.

“So me and this other chap, we rushed over to the front door and we were telling the woman ‘open the door’.

“She said ‘I can’t find the key’, so we looked around, I picked up a brick and we smashed the plate glass in the porch.

“We knocked all the sharp edges off, and dragged her through and out.”

Cops have launched a “domestic-related” murder probe and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire.

Lincolnshire Police have also confirmed two people who were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the fire have now been discharged.

Describing the rescue, Mr Holland said: “She said ‘there’s somebody upstairs’ but then just as she did, the whole roof above the upstairs bedroom caved in.

“It spread and really got going then, all across the upstairs. It was really quick.”

He added he never found out who the other rescuer is but wants to “shake his hand”.

Police and Fire investigators are still at the scene of the detached property, where the top floor has been completely gutted by the blaze.

The only part of the roof remaining were two brick gable ends, while every window on the upper floor had been shattered and part of the first floor wall had collapsed completely.

Parish council chairman David Danby, who lives nearby said the fire spread “from one side of the upstairs to the other” in just minutes.

He said: “It was the ferocity of it.

“It was like a tinderbox.”

Mr Danby praised the emergency services, adding the fire brigade had been at the scene “within minutes”.

Supt Di Coulson said: “This is a tragic crime and our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved.

“We are in contact with the families and will ensure that this is a thorough investigation as we try and understand what happened.”

The police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, including drivers who may have dash cam footage.

The investigation is being conducted by officers from the East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit alongside Lincolnshire officers.

Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to phone 101 and quote incident 139 of January 1.
