New photo Pro-Brexit protest outside Greggs mistaken for anti-vegan sausage roll rally

A HUGE Brexit rally outside a Greggs was mistaken for an anti-vegan sausage roll demonstration.

Dozens of police officers were pictured lined up outside a branch in Manchester City yesterday afternoon.

Greggs launched its vegan sausage rolls on January 2 in a bid to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But as officers were snapped restraining protesters during yesterday’s rally outside the bakery, social media users thought it was because of the new snack.

TV presenter Robert Llewllyn tweeted: “A few years ago I would have found this impossible to believe.

“Not not. Deeply sad men about angry sausage rolls and the inherent threat to their supposed masculinity.”

Mike Stuchbery said: “The f**kwits that like to call you a “snowflake” are blockading a Gregg’s in Manchester for selling vegan sausage rolls.”

Another wrote: “I don’t get why people can’t eat what they want and why Gregg’s can’t provide it. What is wrong with these people?”

One questioned whether it was a PR stunt to get more attention around the new rolls.

Jonny Smith tweeted: “Surely this is a PR stunt paid for by Gregg’s? Surely nobody is actually protesting a f**king vegan sausage roll?

“Bloody 2019 is even more 2018 than 2018.”

The rally was actually held to demonstrate against Theresa May’s EU withdrawal deal.

Demonstrators held placards which read: “No to EU mafia”, and “Free Britain”.

But some were also spotted wearing English Defence League clothing and holding placards supporting Donald Trump.

YouTube account Tommy Robinson News uploaded several videos from the demonstration, and apparently organised the rally.
