A MAN has tonight been charged over the murder of a 51-year-old dad stabbed on a train in front of his teenage son.

Lee Pomeroy was killed in a frenzied attack during a row with a stranger a day before his 52nd birthday.

Police tonight charged Darren Pencille, 35, from Farnham, Surrey, with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Chelsea Mitchell, 27, has also been charged with assisting an offender and both will appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Dad-of-one Lee was on the London-bound train as he headed through Surrey on a day trip with his 14-year-old son on January 4.

He died on the platform at Horsley station as his helpless son sat with him and waited for cops to arrive.

A police spokesman said: “A man has today been charged with the murder of Lee Pomeroy, 51, following an investigation at Horsley station, Surrey.

“Darren Shane Pencille, 35, of Willbury Road, Farnham, has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon in connection to a fatal incident on board a train from Guildford to London on 4 January.

“He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

“Chelsea Mitchell, 27, of Willbury Road, Farnham, has also been charged with assisting an offender.”
