A COP who raped a girl of 13 was a suspect in three other sex cases before he began police training, it emerged.

Ian Naude, 30, was allowed to begin his duties despite being investigated by two neighbouring forces.

The “committed paedophile” then used his position to target young teenage girls.

Prosecutor Owen Edwards told a court Naude “was hoping to gain the keys to a sweetshop”.

The dad of one exchanged sexual messages and photos online with the victim after he was called to her house in a domestic violence incident. He then drove her to a secluded spot where he filmed himself raping her.

Naude joined Cheshire Police last year after no further action was taken against him in a Staffordshire rape investigation.

But two child grooming allegations made to Staffordshire and West Mercia cops were not picked up. Naude was found guilty of sexual offences against a child, including rape. He also admitted 31 grooming charges.

Naude, of Market Drayton, Shrops, will be sentenced at Liverpool crown court next month. Cheshire Police apologised and now has stricter vetting.
