An American used car dealer was assassinated outside his Ciudad Juarez home - one of 11 killed by dangerous criminal gangs in the Mexican border town this past weekend.
Witnesses told police that the victim had stepped out of his home after three men called out his name on Tuesday, according to El Diario de Juarez.
The man, whose name and age has not been released, reportedly got into a heated discussion with his aggressors. During the argument, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot him dead.
The American, who was living in Mexico, had only recently returned home after being discharged from hospital 21 days earlier for multiple stab wounds.
The US Embassy has not yet confirmed the death of an American national.
The assassination was just one of dozens in the violent border town which has seen 44 homicides in the first two weeks of November alone.

Earlier Tuesday, a 35-year-old woman was found dead sitting on a bench and laying against a wall with a bullet to her head.
Another man was killed while walking down the street at 6.40am the same day.
Later in the morning, a male store clerk was found stabbed to death at an electronics store by a customer that had just entered the business.
The first 10 months of 2018 have generated 1,043 homicides, mostly attributed to warring rival drug cartels battling for turf. There were 764 homicides reported in 2017.

January tallied 72, February 44, March 56 and April 65 and May nearly doubled with 124 homicides.
Killings spiked up as the second half of the year came around.
June listed 177 and July also finished with 177. August generated 182 homicides but it simmered down over the next two months with 82 in September and 64 in October, according the numbers released by the district attorney's office.
But November, unfortunately, is rivaling the previous summer months centenary figures with 44, including seven women.
