New photo UK’s first female Home Secretary blasts BBC’s Bodyguard for ‘too much ‘s***ging’

BRITAN’S first female Home Secretary slammed the Beeb hit The Bodyguard for having “too much s***ging” and not enough of the boring side to the job.

Labour’s Jacqui Smith – whose husband was outed for claiming expenses for porn a decade ago – mocked the steamy show, just days after Theresa May said it was too realistic.

And at a party last night, the former home secretary said: “She should do less s***ging and more case work!”

But Bodyguard – in which Keeley Hawes plays the controversial politician, Julia Montague – has proven a hit with the public, its third episode raking in a whopping 6.7 million viewers on Sunday.

One government source told the Evening Standard the show “must have had a good consultant” helping with the language.

Codenames such as JTAC for the Joint Terrorism Command Centre are referenced in the drama.

And the number of women occupying the highest roles has been accurately reflected in the show.

The Cabinet currently has five female MPs, with Theresa May only the second British Prime Minister.

In Bodyguard, Gina McKee plays the commander of Metropolitan Police’s Counter-Terrorism Branch alongside Julia Montague.

The government source added: “[It’s] great to see so many top positions filled by women – this has happened in the past. Within the last decade at the Home Office, there was at one time a female Home Secretary, Permanent Secretary, and several female private secretaries and director generals.”
