ONE of Jeremy Corbyn’s closest allies has been banned from visiting Ukraine because of his links to the Putin regime, it was reported today.
Andrew Murray, an ex-communist who works in the Labour leader’s office, is on a blacklist drawn up by Ukraine’s government.
It comes after he repeatedly sided with Russia over the illegal occupation of Crimea and eastern Ukraine – and claimed pro-freedom demonstrators were actually fascists trying to destabilise the country.
Mr Murray denies being part of a “propaganda network” and insists he had no plans to visit Ukraine anyway.
The far-left activist, formerly a member of the Communist Party of Britain, works for the Unite union but has been seconded to Mr Corbyn’s office.
He helped launch a group called Solidarity with the Antifascist Resistance in Ukraine in 2014, when the country was consumed in civil war stoked by Vladimir Putin.
Russia illegally seized Crimea from Ukraine and supported the invasion of wide swathes of the country’s east – then blamed the crisis on “fascists”.
Mr Murray’s group backed the Kremlin’s argument – he told supporters that Britain was taking the side of fascism and suggested the shooting down of flight MH17 was down to “propaganda”.
The Mail on Sunday reported that Ukraine’s government has issued a statement banning Mr Murray from visiting the country for three years.
The country’s security service said: “We made a decision to ban the entrance of the citizen of Great Britain starting from June 2018 for 3 years based on the law of Ukraine about the legal state of foreign citizens… in order to ensure the national security of Ukraine.”

A spokesman for Mr Murray told the paper: “Andrew completely rejects the suggestion of being part of a so-called propaganda network and is a frequent critic of Putin and his government.
“He has never been to Ukraine, nor has any plans to visit the country.”
It was revealed earlier this year that he was working in Parliament without having the proper security clearance from Commons authorities.
