Every season Marks & Spencer comes up with a few mustbuys, but finding fashion gold in stores crammed with staples isn’t easy.
So they’ve hired the nation’s favourite morning TV presenter, Holly Willoughby, to do the searching for you.
The 37-year-old mum of three has curated a Holly’s Must- Haves’ capsule collection of her favourite 20 pieces from the current M&S range. She’s also dishing out style advice. Holly already shares details of the outfits she wears on This Morning, from the likes of Oasis, Topshop and LK Bennett, on Instagram — and they invariably sell out, earning her the moniker Holly Will- youbuy.
M&S clearly hopes she’ll do the same for them.

But will it be enough to combat the decline of their clothing business — and can Holly put the spark back in Marks?
We had an exclusive sneak peek at Holly’s picks, giving us time to feel, try on and test each of the 20 pieces she chose. Are the fabrics good quality? Has she picked up on the season’s key trends?

CHECK BLAZER
There are countless iterations of the check blazer and this is one of the best on the High Street. Double-breasted, it can be worn over dresses or with jeans. Pull up the sleeves for a cool look and, when the weather takes a turn for the worse, layer under a plain coat. Blazer, £69
SKINNY JEANS
Skinnies are finally falling out of fashion so Holly could have been a bit more adventurous here. M&S is the second biggest denim retailer in the UK so it would have been nice to see a straight leg, or kick flare. Collection jeans, £19.50
WHITE SHIRT
A versatile white shirt is a wardrobe essential and this one looks like silk but without the hefty price tag. It’s a wide cut but fitted on the arms. The gold button detail on cuffs is a smart touch. Shirt £29.50
MAROON BAG
Get the leather look for a fraction of the price with this stylish bag. Cross-body, £35
CITY COAT
In the past, pink coats have been a huge success for M&S, but this one misses the mark — it’s too short and the zips look dated. But you can’t argue with the price. City coat, £69.
SLOGAN T-SHIRT
A wardrobe staple. This one is a great shape, in fabulously soft cotton, with slightly longer sleeves for those of us who don’t want to show too much upper arm. Wear it under the checked blazer. T-shirt, £19.50
SKIRT
Minis aren’t easy to wear but if you’re going to take on the trend then this classic check is a nice choice and will look great on a petite frame. The Sixties-style button is a nice detail. Skirt, £29.50
HIGH-NECK TOP
Dress it up with a pencil skirt and heels, or down with jeans and trainers. It looked great with Holly’s Must-Haves tailored checked trousers. Top, £29.50.
SADDLE BAG
It’s a safe choice but this black cross-body saddle bag is sure to go with anything and everything. Saddle bag, £35
BLOCK-HEEL BOOTS
With heels that give height without sacrificing comfort, these leather boots are a great addition to your autumn wardrobe and will be a stylish weekend staple. Block-heel boots, £79.
TAILORED TROUSERS
Checks were big news on the autumn/winter catwalk and these versatile trousers are a great way to introduce them to your wardrobe. They would work equally well in the office or for a casual weekend lunch. With a flattering front pleat this tailored design will suit all body shapes. Trousers, £35.
CHUNKY KNIT
Shocking pink is a tricky colour to wear on a chunky knit and this short, boxy cut won’t work with a fuller bust . . . or broad shoulders, or a bit of a tummy. Let’s be honest — that rules out most of us. Jumper, £38
LEATHER-LOOK BIKER JACKET
There are some incredibly stylish faux leather jackets on the High Street but this isn’t one of them. It’s obviously leather-look not leather and is completely shapeless. The detachable fur collar is a nice touch, though. Fur trim biker, £49.50
LEOPARD-PRINT BLUSH DRESS
This is a must-have and ticks all the right boxes. It has a button-front, pulls you in with a tie-waist, has a pretty pleated skirt and comes in a flattering blush pink rather than traditional camel and black. Leopard-print dress, £49.50
WHITE TRAINERS
The trend for white trainers shows no sign of waning and this Gucci-inspired design, with their flash of silver, are great if you’re running around town. Trainers, £49.50
WINTER COAT
Stop searching for the perfect winter coat because Holly has found it — at under £100! M&S rarely disappoints when it comes to outerwear but it would have been easy to miss this treasure if Holly hadn’t brought it to our attention. It hangs beautifully and the belted waist gives a great shape. Coat, £99.
PATENT LOAFERS
These patent leather loafers with velvet bow detail look smart while being as comfy as slippers! Loafers, £25
FISHTAIL SKIRT
This midi is just the thing to update your work wardrobe. Ideal for an hourglass figure it highlights a trim waist and the ruffle detail balances out bigger hips and thighs. Gingham skirt, £35
GREEN BAG
The jewel tone, metal clasp detail and mock-croc effect make this bag look a lot more expensive than it actually is. Cross-body, £35.
