New photo Mum of boy left with injuries ‘normally seen in fighter pilots’ following ‘Roundabout of Death’ stunt speaks out for the first time

THE mum of a schoolboy left with shocking injuries doctors usually only treat fighter pilots for after copying a dangerous YouTube stunt has spoken out.

Tyler Broome, 11, from Tuxford, Notts, recreated a viral video known as the “Roundabout of Death” after being approached by an older lad with a motorbike.

The video shows a motorbike being laid on the ground next to a children’s playground roundabout set.

Teenagers then climb onto the roundabout, and the back wheel of the bike begins spinning – moving the roundabout at an incredibly fast speed.

However when Tyler recreated the stunt, he was sick before collapsing and had to be rushed to hospital as his face became more swollen to the point where he could not open his eyes.

Doctors said he was at risk of suffering a stroke because of the pressure and speed he had experienced.

His mum Dawn Hollingworth today revealed well-wishers from around the world have got in touch with messages of support for the lad.

She said: “People have been wishing him well and asking if there is anything that can be done. Other people have said ‘we can’t watch it’ and have sent messages of loveliness.

“Around 99 per cent of comments that we have got have been lovely.

“There are lovely messages from people you have never met and I have been replying and thanking them for taking the time to care.”

The injuries Tyler suffered are known as having “redout” – a condition fighter pilots develop when experiencing extreme negative g-force.

It can cause blood to flow from the lower parts of the body to the head potentially leading to a hemorrhagic stroke or retinal damage.

He could now be left with possible damage to his brain and vision and is experiencing pain across his head and in his eyes.

Dawn, who works at an estate agent added: “Tyler is really grateful for the messages too and it has kept me strong at the hospital.

“Just don’t do it [dangerous stunts online] it may be fun for two seconds but that can turn to tragedy, so don’t do it.

“He is alert and the swelling is going down but he still has blurred vision – we hope that will go when the swelling has gone. He is heading the right direction.”

Nottinghamshire Police are investigating the incident and are asking anyone who has any information on the incident to call 101 and quote incident number 62 of September 13.

REDOUT: Shocking condition which doctors only usually see with fighter pilots

The condition known as ‘redout’ occurs when the human body endures negative g-force, causing blood to flow from the lower parts of the body to the head.

It is usually only experienced by pilots, and can cause a hemorrhagic stroke or retinal damage.

Sufferers are also known to suffer from only being able to see red in the aftermath of a negative g-force experience.

This is thought to be caused as blood begins to rush to the head, and is laden over the lower eyelid.
