Germany have been left chasing the rest after the World Cup showed that keeping their 2014-winning formula isn’t good enough anymore.
The friendly against Peru will give Joachim Low the opportunity to test which young players should now be trusted to carry the baton towards Euro 2020 qualification.

What has Joachim Low’s said about his tactics?
Despite calls for Low to drop hos possession-based style, he defended it during his press conference on Wednesday.
He said: “We’ve been really successful for the last eight years, it would be nonsense to change our style completely.
“At the World Cup, the risk level was too high, we played too offensively. We have looked at all the data from 2010, 2012, 2014 and so on and we had a better balance then in terms of possession.”
Speaking about the future, he doesn’t see the need for wholesale changes, adding: “Of course, we need to get the ball rolling again but we don’t need to turn over every stone and start everything again.”
What is Joachim Low’s squad?
Leroy Sane is back in the Germany squad after being dropped for the World Cup, although Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has quit the national team indefinitely.
Mario Goetze hasn’t been selected again, while Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan keeps his place despite contributing to Germany’s poor World Cup showing.
