ENGLISH football will be backing Germany’s Euro 2024 bid tomorrow – as it looks for signs over whether Wembley could host the 2030 World Cup Final.

The final host vote takes place on Thursday with Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin known to favour Germany as he seeks a “safe” tournament.

A win for the German bid over rivals Turkey would be clear proof of the power of Uefa head Ceferin – who is a huge backer of England’s planned bid to host the World Cup in 12 years time

Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill, the FA’s Uefa representatie, is set to vote for Germany ahead of Turkey when the poll is finally counted in Geneva.

So too is outgoing Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis, a representative of the European Clubs Association.

And with Ceferin the strongest backer of the planned England-led bid for 2030, a clear sign that the Slovenian is the most influential voice in world football will be seen as a big boost for FA chiefs.

Turkey’s bid suffered a hammer-blow last week when Uefa’s technical report cast doubt upon the country’s human rights record and questioned their economic and infrastructure promises.

But Germany FA chief Reinhard Grindel, bruised by the Mesut Ozil “racism” affair, has also become embroiled in a public spat with Fifa boss Gianni Infantino.

Fan protests at the bid also marred games across Germany last weekend, with Dutch FA boss Michael van Praag declaring for the Turks.

Germany are still firm favourites but national boss Joachim Low said: “We want it to be about the merits of the bid, not any politics.

“We have the stadiums and everything we need. The 2006 World Cup that was very beautiful for our country.”
