She's known for championing Canadian labels on her royal engagements, but today the Duchess of Sussex missed the chance to showcase British design on her first official visit to the county that inspired her royal title.
Harry and Meghan arrived on the south coast this morning for a whistle-stop tour of Sussex, with the former Suits star opting for a cream coat from Italian design house Armani and a leather skirt by US brand Hugo Boss.
She teamed the ensemble with a black shirt from & Other Stories, which is part of the Swedish H&M group and carried a handbag from trendy New York designer Gabriela Hearst.
Celebrity stylist and designer Lucas Armitage told Femail: For Meghan’s inagural visits to the county her title hails from, I would have expected to see her pay homage to the county and country with her choice of outfit.

'The Duchess of Cambridge is often spotted in designer that are local to the places she is visiting so it is expected of royals to sartorially select home grown talent from where ever they may visit.
'Meghan's mix of international designers and brands is a chic and appropriate look, but it would have been great to see her in something more fitting of her Sussex link.'
The Duchess also carried on her habit of using her handbag to champion an ethical message.
New York designer Gabriela Hearst is known for her ethical and sustainable manufacturing standards and the Patsy bag which Meghan carried today was a runaway success.

The widely-sought after bag sold out in every colour and currently customers can only sign up to the waiting list to buy one.
It shows that the brand clearly doesn't need a boost to its fortunes, whereas Meghan could have used the opportunity to champion a British label.
Meghan's preference for North American brands has been evident since her wedding to Harry in May 2018.
Last month it was reported that out of the 22 outfits she has appeared in since she joined the Royal Family, only two have been by British labels.

She’s mostly to be seen clad in North American designs - usually blue-chip brands including Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta.
She has also favoured legendary European fashion houses such as Prada, Dior and Givenchy.
It's believed that the influence of her best friend Jessica Mulroney may be the reason for Meghan's loyalty to little-known Canadian labels such as House of Nonie and Judith & Charles, which are closely associated with the Canadian stylist.
These brands that were hitherto unknown to the British public are naturally thrilled by the publicity boost.
