New photo IKEA issues urgent recall of ceiling lamp over fears the glass shade could shatter or even explode

IKEA has issued a recall of their Calypso ceiling lamps that were purchased after August 1, 2016.

The recall comes following reports of the lamps falling to the ground and shattering.

Customers with the lamp in their home are urged to remove the glass shade carefully and check for a manufacturing date stamp.

Anybody with lamps numbered from 1625 to 1744 should contact IKEA for a replacement or a full refund.

No receipt or proof of purchase is needed to gain the refund or exchange.

The Swedish furniture store has warned that the popular ceiling lamp can sometimes fall and result in 'impact and laceration hazards.'

There have been 19 reported incidents of the lamps falling so far. Two of those incidents resulted in 'minor injuries'.

There is risk of injury from glass breaking and falling to the floor or from contact with broken glass after the lamp shade breaks.
