Who is Manjinder Virk?
Manjinder Virk is an English actress, writer and director, who was born in Coventry, England.
She started acting in the Belgrade Youth Theatre in Coventry before getting a degree in contemporary dance at at De Montfort University in Leicester.
The star, who is thought to be around 42 years old, is married to writer and director Neil Biswas, who she met on the set of Bradford Riots in 2007.
She is a mum to a daughter, who is around seven, and a son, who is thought to be three.
They are currently believed to live in Brixton, South London.
Who does Manjinder Virk play in Midsomer Murders?
Manjinder Virks plays pathologist Dr Kam Karimore in Midsomer Murders.
She joined the cast for series 18, in 2016, and has appeared in it ever since.
She was the first British Asian actor to join the cast, which was a big step after former executive producer Brian True-May sparked debate saying the show “wouldn’t work” with ethnically diverse characters back in 2011.
When she joined the cast she told Radio Times: “I was aware of the comments Brian True-May made, but it wasn’t really in my thoughts when I went up for this job.
“The main thing for me was that they wanted to create a really rounded character, regardless of race. But I also feel that my being there will make a difference.
“Because Midsomer is seen in so many countries, hopefully seeing a British Asian character taking her place in that community will, in some small way, break down preconceptions of what England is.”

Manjinder’s career started in 1999 when she appeared in Holby City.
She went on to appear in numerous shows including The Bill, Doctors, Green Wing and Hunted.
Most recently she has appeared in Call The Midwife, Ordinary Lies and Bad Move, a role she reprised for the sitcom’s second season.
She has written and directed a number of plays, including Out Of Darkness, starring Tom Hiddleston and Riz Ahmed.
