New photo European fans in flag-inspired outfits cheer on their team as they stay on course to beat the USA

The much anticipated 42nd Ryder Cup has seen fans congregate in their masses at the Le Golf National near Paris to see who will pick up the prestigious trophy.


Following Europe's memorable performance yesterday which saw them extend their lead to 10-6 over the United States, the team now need four and a half points to win the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2014. 


As a sea of spectators watch on from their stands to watch the final showdown, European fans dressed in flag inspired outfits were seen erupting from their seat as their team remains on course to beat the USA. 


However the United States, captained by Jim Furyk, will attempt to mount a fierce comeback with them needing eight points to retain the Ryder Cup.


The competition is set to offer a thrilling Sunday of golf with both sides aiming to take early leads in the individual matches.

Alongside fans, Erica Stoll, the wife of Europe's Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy and Allison Stokke, girlfriend of US golfer Rickie Fowler, were spotted attending the third day of the 42nd Ryder Cup at Le Golf National Course. 


The tournament sees a total of 28 matches played over the course of three days in France, with each match worth one point.  


The USA currently holds 26 victories since 1927, while Europe have won a total of 10, with the 1989 contest at the Belfry finishing as a tie.
