A FURIOUS maid of honour has revealed she’s been uninvited to her best mate’s wedding because she refused to dedicate an entire year to helping plan her big day.

According to Marissa*, who shared the sorry saga on Facebook, the whole debacle began when the bride-to-be demanded her boyfriend popped the question by July 31 2018.

Marissa told how her mate announced on a girls’ night out that she was expecting a ring by this deadline, otherwise she would take an oath of silence against her fella.

She went on: “Seeing that she is clearly acting psychotic, my friend and I try to talk her off a cliff by trying to convince her to compromise and show a little patience.”

Marissa tried to encourage her pal to be understanding – having spoken to the poor bloke in question – but said she found out later she’d “cried the whole ride home, started a fight with future hubby about being an a**hole for not proposing, and cried herself to sleep that night”.

Marissa added: “She also claimed that we bullied her into thinking he was not going to propose – ever. It never happened like that. Sure as s***, a week before the deadline, the proposal happens.”

But this wasn’t the end of it.

Marissa admitted she was reluctant to accept her request to be maid of honour, fearing they were drifting apart and she’d have a “control freak” on her hands, but did so, promising she’d do all she could to make it a great day.

But a month later, she lived to regret it.

“A month or two later, I notify her that I am planning on competing in a fitness show PRIOR to her wedding,” Marissa wrote.

“This means the whole competition would be over before her wedding. She cries, tells me I am being selfish, and then proceeds to say I won’t be any fun at the bachelorette.

“Shame on me for not stopping my entire life to accommodate her wedding YEAR.”

When it came to the hen itself, the bride-to-be threw her teddy out the pram when her planned Great Gatsby-themed event had to be toned down due to budget restrictions.

On the night, Marissa was landed with looking after the bar, as they hadn’t hired staff and were expecting the father of the groom to do it. For her pains, she was told she was being “antisocial”.

The bridezilla then planned their dress shopping trip, where she picked out frocks costing £153 ($200) each – after Marissa had already picked up the £88 ($115) tab for their lunch.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, days before Marissa had found out her boyfriend of two years had been cheating on her for a year and a half.

Not wanting to let her mate down, she decided to keep her mouth shut.

But when her friend asked her how her holiday had been, she burst into tears. Bizarrely, the bride-to-be then pretended she’d known about the affair – an effort to put the spotlight back on her, according to Marissa.

The wedding shower then cost Marissa around £609 ($800) – she’d asked each bridesmaid to pitch in £190 ($250), and Marissa paid for the invites, games, food and other random bits and bobs.

She explained: “When I refused to pay £106 ($140) for 12 pastries her mother sent me a threatening text.”

Marissa was then hounded by the mother of the bride for not going shopping with her daughter two days before her bridal shower – opting to go to her cousin’s fiancé’s hen do instead.

On the night before, Marissa spent four hours at her house helping them prepare, then the following day she was back at 8am making coffee and breakfast before the 10-hour shower began.

Despite this spectacular effort, Marissa was ghosted by her mate for the next week and a half.

When she finally spoke to the bridezilla, she went off on one about the ways her pal had let her down.

Marissa wrote: “She said it was ridiculous that I bullied her into thinking she would never be proposed to, I didn’t comment on her engagement post saying she would be the ‘most beautiful bride ever’ and I didn’t like enough of her pre-wedding posts.

“I didn’t spend enough time or effort on her wedding (refer back to all money spent) and I had time to go on vacation and attend ‘some girl’s’ bachelorette (my cousin’s fiancé) but not food shopping with her.

“I was selfish for wanting to compete in a fitness show during her ‘wedding time’, and I was rude and disrespectful to her mother.”

Apparently Marissa should also have visited her to see why she was being given the silent treatment via phone and social media.

“A week later I get a letter in the mail reiterating we are no longer friends and that I am not welcome at the wedding,” Marissa concluded.

“Coincidentally, my friend and roommate that was also in the wedding gets the same style letter.”

Marissa, sounds like you had a lucky escape!
