JEREMY Corbyn has been accused of sitting on a damning report which claims sexual harassment is “rife” in the party – and being “accommodated” by senior figures.
Bex Bailey, a young activist who last year revealed she had been raped at a Labour party event, said the document by Karon Monaghan QC had been “kicked into the long grass”.
Speaking to the BBC, Ms Bailey she accused the leadership of having “sat on” it for four months, and demanded it was handed over to its ruling NEC body.
She wants them to debate the central recommendation of setting up an independent complaints process.
And Ms Bailey said she believed the recommendations had “not even been discussed”.
She stormed: “I know that Karon’s report found that not only is sexual harassment rife in the Labour Party as we’ve all known and feared. But actually it’s not being dealt with.
“It’s not just my case that’s not been handled properly but we’ve got a situation where the report clearly says that these issues, senior members of Labour have closed their eyes to the issues.
“They have trivialised sexual harassment, accommodated it and not handled as they should have done.
“I think now is the time finally to start taking this seriously and put it back on the agenda.”
The blast sets up yet another furious row in the run up to Labour Party conference in Liverpool this weekend.
At the height of the ‘Pestminster’ scandal last year Bex Bailey revealed she was raped in 2011 but told not to report it to the police.
