A NIGHTCLUB in Bournemouth was evacuated amid fears the dancefloor had been poisoned.
Clubbers suffered “coughing fits” and “itchy eyes” after a canister was dropped in Cameo at 2am on Friday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and revellers were forced to leave the venue.
Police have cordoned off the area and are interviewing punters in the street outside.
Journalist Josh Wilde tweeted from the scene: “I’ve spoken to eye witnesses who say someone dropped something and then everyone reacted with coughing and eyes itching – paramedics are in attendance.”
He posted a video of the chaos outside the popular nightspot.
Josh added: “I spoke to a police officer and some sort of canister has been let off inside the venue.
“The emergency services have evacuated everyone until they get to the bottom of it.”
A reveller recalled the moment people fled the club.
He wrote: “Some nerve agent or something going on.

Cameo is popular with Bournemouth students and is set to host Love Island star Chris Hughes next month.
Its website describes it as “the new breed of club that has it all” and asks its patrons to “make an effort with their dress code.”
