"Many Photos" - Mum charged with child abuse after son, 8, fell off lawn mower she was driving and rolled into blades causing serious injuries

A MUM-of-two has been charged with child abuse after her young son fell off a lawnmower and was dragged into the blades.

Ashley Stacey Holt, 27, from North Carolina, US, who also had her two-year-old daughter on her lap, was cutting the grass when Braiden Brown, eight, was thrown from the mower.

Seeming to be in good spirits, Braiden had to have surgery after the accident[/caption]

Holt tried to stop the machine but the blades kept spinning as he rolled underneath – pulling his arm into the razor-sharp spinners.

According to Braiden’s dad, the eight-year-old was mauled by the piece of equipment, leaving gashes in his hands and left leg.

As he fell the blades were not moving, but according to Holt, he pulled the button as he fell off – starting the rotary blades again.

AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL

The youngster was airlifted to Atrium Health-Charlotte, where he is still recovering after his surgery and is due to undergo further treatment.

Holt and her kids had been cutting the grass outside their home in Lincolnton.

According to police reports, Braiden had been riding on the deck of the mower when the accident happened.

Braiden’s toddler sister also fell from the mower but was uninjured as her brave brother pulled her out of the way, according to WBTV.

His mum has been charged with a felony count of child abuse with serious bodily injury by local cops.

Holt posted a $2,500 bond after her arrest and has now been released and due in Lincoln County District Court this week.

Sheriff’s Captain Matt Lykins told WBTV: “You should never have kids on a mower for mowing grass or even just riding, things can happen so quick.”
