"Many Photos" - Monday racing tips: Andy Ayres talks through the week’s biggest gambles and picks out his best bet for Monday’s racing

BLUE was definitely the colour last weekend.

City ran riot at The Cottage, Chelsea got over the line thanks to some Mr Magoo refereeing and Godolphin won big races here, there and everywhere.

Don't miss out on the most original take from the past weeks racing from our resident Trackman aka. Andy Ayres

Their main man Charlie Appleby did punters a right turn when Auxerre (4-1 to 5-2) landed a nationwide gamble in the Lincoln.

He looked like Ronaldo in an under 11’s game and I wouldn’t bet against the horse bullying some bigger names in the bet365 Mile at Sandown later this month.

Young Jason Watson was left wearing a neck brace and a frown after taking a nasty tumble at Kempton in January.

Thankfully the boy wonder is back in one piece and rode his first winner for new boss Roger Charlton when Forbidden Planet ran away with the Rosebery Handicap.

Cool, calm and collected, Charlton is chuffed to have first dibs on the kid’s services and they are set fair for a cracking summer.

Punters took a proper pummelling at Kempton, with Sawasadee (6-1 to 5-2), Count Calabash (7-1 to 3-1), Soldier’s Minute (4-1 to 7-4) and Matterhorn (15-8 to 5-6) all being well-bet wallet reducers.

Hugo Palmer’s Mootasadir put up the performance of the day here when grinding home in the Magnolia Stakes.

He took longer to pull up than the QEII and connections might send him down-under for the Melbourne Cup at the end of the year.

There was a toe-curling gaffe at Uttoxeter, where Sam Thomas managed to take the wrong horse to the sports.

The stewards withdrew his Docte Dina after the horse presented for inspection failed to match the passport or microchip records, which is a feather in their cap for them but a big black mark for Thomas and his team.

By the way, there’s a strong whisper for Charlie Fellowes’ Pentland Lad at Kempton on Wednesday night.

I’m told connections reckon he’s a 70 horse, which is handy bearing in mind he runs off 49!

Oisin Murphy is booked, the draw looks favourable and it will be long faces all round if he’s beaten.

Fashions come and go but Adam Kirby is still the boss at Lingfield and showed why with a dominant ride on In The Red there the other day.

The Enforcer pinged out from a car park draw, set a stop-start pace and then got busy early in the straight to muscle home in a frantic finish.

AK is a relentless machine gun of a jock and will thoroughly deserve the £8,000 he is due to pocket for being this winter’s King Of The Sand.

I don’t reckon owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum lies awake wondering how to pay the gas bill, but I bet he wishes he could cancel the 1.9million guineas Willie John cost.

The horse looked a proper chocolate teapot when finishing fourth in a moderate event at Doncaster on Sunday and would struggle to beat Katie Hopkins in a popularity contest.

I’ve heard that Mark Johnston has a big target in mind for the unbeaten Showroom, who could make his reappearance at Leicester on Friday.

Trackman's Monday Selection

I’M AVAILABLE (4.10 Chelmsford) is improving with every start and comes from a yard in blistering form.

The gelding needs a bit of dig in the ground to show his best and will be double difficult to beat if the forecast rain arrives.

TIMOTEO (3.55) can complete a hat-trick over fences at Ludlow today, where SMACKWATER JACK (2.15) will appreciate dropping in class after tackling the big boys last time.

Oisin Murphy has a decent book of rides at Chelmsford and should go close on I’M AVAILABLE (4.10).

Andrew Balding’s filly scooted clear under magic Murph at Kempton last time and figures on a handy mark.
