"Many Photos" - Manuel Charr not interested in ‘irrelevant’ Dillian Whyte and claims Brit ‘is not ready for the challenge’

DILLIAN WHYTE will not challenge for the WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight world title, if champion Manuel Charr gets his way.

After Whyte, 30, snubbed a deal to fight unified champion Anthony Joshua, 29, and instead chased a WBC eliminator against Dominic Breazeale, he was left in limbo.

Breazeale, 33, was handed the opportunity to challenge for the WBC title after the rematch between champion Deontay Wilder, 33, and Tyson Fury, 30, failed to materialise.

Left without an opponent, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Luis Ortiz, Alexander Povetkin and the WBA’s secondary world champion Charr were all possible names for Whyte’s next fight.

He has made good fights and won, but he is not ready to fight against me. This athlete should not be given a platform for a world championship.

However, speaking to SunSport, German based Lebanese Charr revealed he is not interested in Whyte, blasting the Brit as ‘irrelevant’ – and instead called out AJ and Fury.

Charr said: “I am not interested in a fight against Dillian Whyte. He is not a sportsman and not a challenge for me. He is an irrelevant man.

“He has made good fights and won, but he is not ready to fight against me. This athlete should not be given a platform for a world championship.

“I really want to fight in England. My favourite opponents are the super sportsman Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. These two athletes would be a big challenge for me personally.

“Talent against experience. I have the ring experience. I just want to fight the best and AJ and Fury are the best fighters from UK.”

‘I SURVIVED AN ASSASSINATION’

The 34-year-old won the WBA understudy belt in November 2017 after beating Alexander Ustinov in Germany – however, he is yet to make a defence.

Charr faced losing his title after a failed drug test in September last year, but instead escaped with a six month suspension.

The 6ft 4ins heavyweight has had to overcome more adversity in his career, having surviving an ‘assassination’ attempt in 2015 after being confronted by an internet troll.

He likens his story to Fury, who overcame drug abuse and mental health problems to challenge for Wilder’s WBC world title in December last year.

I had to overcome many obstacles during my boxing career. In 2015, I survived an assassination after a man shot me in the stomach.

Charr added: “My story is like the story of Tyson Fury: Never give up and fight for the good again and again. You have to be a role model.

“I had to overcome many obstacles during my boxing career. In 2015, I survived an assassination after a man shot me in the stomach.

“Although I had severe internal injuries, I made my comeback victorious nine months later.

“Only a year after the assassination, I fought for the WBA international title against Sefer Seferi, the former opponent of Tyson Fury, who was unbeaten at the time. I won the title.

“Because of years of pain in the hips, two artificial hips were implanted in April 2017. The surgeon implanted both artificial hips during a single session.

“Anyone who survives such evil destinies can and wants to carry the world on his hands.”
