JUSTIN Bieber has today issued a grovelling apology after being branded “incredibly hurtful and cruel”
Yesterday the 25-year-old singer sent fans into a frenzy when he shared a photo of an ultrasound to his Instagram account, which turned out to be an April Fool’s joke.
Hailey, 22, was quick to comment “very funny” underneath the original post, and the year in the right hand corner read 2012 – which made fans think that it was a prank.
But moments later, Justin shared a series of snaps of Hailey exposing what looked like a baby bump while being checked over by a doctor, causing doubters to think again.
He later fessed up by sharing another ultrasound snap with a puppy in the middle and captioned it: “Wait omg is that a…APRIL FOOLS”.
But this so-called joke DID NOT go down well with fans and charities around the world, forcing Justinj to make a public apology.
Taking to Instagram he wrote: “There’s always gonna be people offended, there’s also people who don’t take jokes very well, I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children.
“A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction.
“But I will apologise anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended. I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.. it’s like when I shoved cake in my little sisters face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried.
“You sometimes just don’t know what will hurt someone’s feelings not to compare pregnancy with cake in the face but it’s just to paint the picture of not knowing what will offend. Some might have laughed but some were offended .. I think With pranks u sometimes have to roll that dice. #prankster #dennisthemenace #sorry #truly”
His apology comes as Fertility Network UK slammed the singer.
They exclusively told The Sun: “Infertility is a cruel and devastating disease that impacts 1 in 6 couples in the UK today.
“It can be hard for any that has not experienced fertility issues themselves, to understand how devastating it can be; 90% of those facing infertility report feeling depressed and a staggering 42% feel suicidal.
“April Fools pregnancy pranks can be incredibly hurtful and insensitive to the 3.5 million people who are affected by infertility in the UK.
“Facing fertility problems is distressing enough, without being bombarded with offensive comments, which is why one of Fertility Network’s main objectives is to raise public awareness of all aspects of fertility.
“We would encourage people to be empathetic and understanding to those with fertility issues, instead of making jokes that can be extremely cruel for those facing fertility challenges.”
A spokesperson for the Miscarriage Association also told The Sun: ” I don’t suppose Justin Bieber thought for a moment that his post might cause upset. Hopefully, any comments that are made in response will make him more aware of the sensitivities that so many people have around pregnancy loss and infertility”
Love Island star Malin Andersson, who lost her baby daughter earlier this year, also slammed Justin today.
Fans have also reacted with fury, with one writing: “Justin Bieber lying about Hailey being pregnant is beyond disrespectful.”
Justin’s controversial joke post comes just days after he hinted at his and Hailey’s future baby plans in a lengthy post to his fans on Instagram.
He said: “So I read a lot of messages saying you want an album… I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s.

“I realised and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour.
“I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do, I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be.”
Justin married Hailey, 22, last year in a surprise secret ceremony, and the model has been a pillar of support to the singer in recent months.
