NEARLY half of all high risk individuals being monitored by the Government’s counter-extremism programme are far-right neo Nazis, ministers have revealed.
Security Minister Ben Wallace told the Commons Defence committee that far-right racists risk becoming “tomorrow’s terrorists”.
He said the authorities had found evidence of the far-right using ISIS terror manuals to learn how to make bombs.
Neo-Nazis now account for 43 per cent of individuals being tracked by the counter-radicalisation arm known as Channel, which monitors individuals identified as the most at-risk under the Government’s Prevent programme.
This is almost the same as the 45 per cent who are Islamists.
Mr Wallace said the threat of far-right extremists was highest in the North East and North West.
FAR-RIGHT ‘FOMENTING AND RECRUITING’
The minister compared the scale of the threat to that posed by jihadi extremist group al-Muhajiroun and the hate preacher Anjem Choudary in the early 2000s.
He said the far-right were “fomenting and recruiting,” adding: “”Before these people crystallised into Isis fighters and volunteers – that is where we are seeing the far right.
“It is a bubbling group of extremists and we need to get in there using Prevent, using diversion, to prevent them becoming tomorrow’s terrorist groups.”
Mr Wallace said the rise in the use of online platforms had allowed far-right extremists to meet fellow racists, telling the committee: “Historically, in the past, they had no friends, they sat on their own, they couldn’t talk to anyone else – now they live in a virtual safe space.
“They communicate through the internet … sometimes we find them actually looking at Isis terror manuals to learn how to make bombs – obviously for a different reason.”

“And they use that to join themselves up, that’s given them better organisation and better momentum. It is a case of concern.
“It hasn’t yet reached the point where they are at the same level of determined conspiracy or cultural religious depths that we see in the Islamists.
“But individuals are beginning to pose significant danger.”
Last year a reformed neo-Nazi revealed how far-right groups were using online games such as Fortnite to radicalise kids and recruit them into their organisations.
Skinhead-turned peace-activist Christian Picciolini explained how his group “sought marginalised youth and promised them ‘paradise’.”
He said far-right racists would go on depression and mental health forums to recruit vulnerable people to their causes.
