GIVING all schoolgirls the HPV jab cuts cervical cancer risk by up to 89 per cent, experts say.
Vaccinating at 12 or 13 is best — as women given it at 17 see the dangers fall by just 51 per cent.
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in many countries.
Edinburgh University’s findings followed a probe of 138,000 women.
Scotland gives the anti-STI and cancer jab at 12 and 13 with a catch-up later.

The age of invitation to first cervical cancer screening is 25.
Prof Julia Brotherton, based in Carlton, Australia, said: “All girls should get it wherever they live.”
“We must also actively develop, resource, and scale-up more effective, feasible and culturally acceptable strategies for cervical screening, such as self-collection of specimens, if we are ever to effectively reduce the global burden of cervical cancer.”
