A DEVASTATED dog lover has warned of the dangers of rope toys – after her beloved golden retriever died after swallowing one.
Indira Tuckler’s dog tore the toy into pieces and ended up ingesting three feet of rope, before dying two days later.
The breeder left her pets with the toy, which was made of blue and white rope and had a ball on the end, after buying it that same day.
She returned to find the toy had been destroyed and vets later discovered that some of the rope was tangled around the unnamed dog’s organs.
Her tragic pooch bled into her stomach and couldn’t be saved with surgery, in which 14 inches of her intestines were removed.
Indira wants other dog owners to know how “dangerous” the popular toys can be.

She said on Facebook: “The ball unravelled and tore several holes in her intestines as she tried to pass it. They removed 3 feet of rope that was entangled in her intestines.
“They also removed 14 inches of perforated intestines. The damage from the rope was so extensive that she passed away two days later.
“We did not even have the option of having another surgery.
“She quickly became septic and bled from her intestines into her stomach. I wanted to warn everyone of how dangerous these toys are.”

Indira cited a report for Germantown Veterinary Clinic that said ropes are “the most dangerous objects” a dog can swallow.
Linear objects can travel along the intestines and clinch them into a tight ball when ingested.
Her Facebook post has been shared more than 32,000 times and she has been inundated with worried messages from other animal lovers.
One commented: “I bought a rope with a ball at home goods and it did not last for more than a day. I am so worried she swallowed some rope too.”

However, another Facebook user said dogs should always be supervised with dogs.
They posted: “I’m sorry for your loss, that is very devastating and sad.
“But this Is The #1 mistake that all most dog owners make. Never leave your dog’s to have free range unsupervised with any and all toys especially if you know your dog is a chewer.”
