DAVINA McCall broke down in tears over the death of her sister Caroline to cancer.
An appeal from the former Big Brother presenter aired on last night’s episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer.
She spoke about the moments from her diagnosis of lung cancer in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, to her eventual death in August 2012.
Davina, 51, said: “It was a Tuesday afternoon. I was in accident and emergency of Pembury Hospital and I was sitting with my sister and I was confused because I was convinced she’d had a stroke, convinced.
“And they came back in and they said, ‘I’m afraid it’s not good news, you’ve got tumour in both of your lungs, primary caner is lung cancer’. And we were like, ‘What?’.
“You know it was my big sister, so my big sister always looked after me. But I had to just be strong, kept saying, ‘It’s going to be all right, it’s going to be all right’ we can get through this together. We can do this. It’s going to be all right.
“And I remember going outside of the room and just thinking, ‘What am I going to do?’”
Davina, who separated from her husband Matthew Robertson in 2017, was there when Caroline collapsed in the cottage next door to her.
She called the ambulance believing she’d suffered a stroke.
Her voice cracking up and tears appearing in her eyes, Davina spoke about the moment she died.
She said: “I’d been with Caroline almost every day bar three or four days from her diagnosis to her death and for three days I knew she was bad. I slept on her floor next to her bed holding her hand.
“I just closed my eyes, I heard her breathing difficulty, I opened my eyes, ‘I think she’s going’.

“The fact that I was there with her I hope meant a lot to her because it meant so much to me.”
The mum of three added: “How do I move on? I do move on. Life goes on. But she lives on with my children. We celebrate her birthday, we try and forget the days she died.
“What I miss the most now about Caroline is just talking, I just miss talking.”
