"Many Photos" - Alec Baldwin is sued by man he punched in the face over a parking spot

Alec Baldwin is being sued by a man he punched in the face during a highly-publicized row over a Manhattan parking spot last fall, DailyMail.com can reveal.

A lawsuit filed against Baldwin in New York Supreme Court last week on behalf of Wojciech Cieszkowski seeks unspecified damages for assault and battery as well as slander, citing the actor's comments about the incident on The Ellen Show in February.

'On November 2, 2018, Mr Cieszkowski's life changed forever because he dared to park his car in a public parking spot on a public street that Mr. Baldwin apparently believed he owned,' a complaint submitted to the court on March 27 says.

'Mr Baldwin verbally accosted Mr Cieszkowski, stood over his shoulder and yelled profanities at him, shoved him hard in the chest, and finally, struck him in the face.'

The complaint obtained by DailyMail.com claims the assault was 'physically painful and psychologically traumatic' to the plaintiff, who has suffered headaches, lost sleep and weight and missed time at work as a result.

It also says that the incident forced Cieszkowski 'became a public personality at the center of a national media circus ... overnight, and very much against his will'.

'Cieszkowski did nothing wrong, and nothing to deserve the indignity of becoming forever known as "the guy Alec Baldwin assaulted over a parking spot",' the complaint reads.

Baldwin has until April 16 to respond to the lawsuit, which seeks 'justice on Mr Cieszkowski's behalf' and asks for compensatory and punitive damages to be determined at trial.

The SNL star is described in the suit as 'an entitled celebrity with a long history of verbally and physically mistreating others he sees as beneath him'.

Cieszkowski, a general contractor from Poland who lives in Pearl River, is described as 'a hardworking immigrant who runs a small business, lives a quiet life with his family and enjoys running marathons'.

The plaintiff claims that he was in New York City for a job on November 2 when he stopped on East 10th Street between University Place and Broadway in Greenwich Village and waited for a parking spot.

He watched a woman, later identified as Baldwin's wife, pull out of a spot and took it himself.

Cieszkowski sat in his car for several minutes on his phone, unaware that Baldwin was sitting in his SUV nearby, waiting to confront the contractor, according to the suit.

'When Mr Cieszkowski got out of his car, Mr Baldwin approached him and immediately verbally accosted him,' accusing him of stealing the parking spot, the complaint says.

'Mr Baldwin called Mr Cieszkowski an "a**hole" and yelled out, in sum and substance, "What's your problem? What's your f***ing problem?"'

Baldwin allegedly followed Cieszkowski to a parking meter, continuing to shout profanities and telling him 'you'll never work in this f***ing building again', according to the plaintiff.

He then shoved Cieszkowski hard in the chest with both hands, according to the plaintiff.

'At that point, Mr Cieszkowski raised his voice for the only time during the interaction and said forcefully to Mr Baldwin, in sum and substance: "I'm trying to pay for the parking spot. Calm down!"'

Baldwin allegedly responded by striking Cieszkowski in the left jaw with his right hand, the complaint claims.

It asserts that at no time did Cieskowski use physical force against Baldwin, nor did he insult the actor.

'All Mr Cieskowski did was park in a public parking spot on a public street and try to pay for his parking.'

When police arrived at the scene, Baldwin allegedly told officers: 'He's an a**hole. He stole my spot. I did push him.'

Cieszkowski was taken to the hospital by ambulance complaining of jaw pain.

In the weeks after the assault, the 49-year-old experienced headaches, had 'many sleepless nights', lost 'about 10 pounds' and had difficulty concentrating and focusing on his business, according to the complaint.

He also allegedly stopped running for several weeks for the first time in 15 years, and he and his family felt unsafe in their own home as the media was staked outside.

Cieszkowski, a general contractor originally from Poland, is described in the lawsuit as 'a hardworking immigrant who runs a small business, lives a quiet life with his family and enjoys running marathons'. The plaintiff's lawyers claim that  the assault was 'physically painful and psychologically traumatic', and that he has suffered headaches, lost sleep and weight and missed time at work as a result

A few weeks after the incident, Baldwin was hit with assault and harassment charges, which were later downgraded by prosecutors.

The actor pleaded guilty to a second-degree harassment violation in January.

The 60-year-old agreed to take an anger management class, which he was required to finish by March, and pay a $120 fine.

Cieskowski's lawsuit contends that the punishment was not enough.

'Rather than show remorse for his boorish behavior and seek to make amends, Mr Baldwin has chosen instead to slander his victim on national television,' the complaint says, referencing the actor's appearance on The Ellen Show on February 4, less than two weeks after his sentencing.

During that interview, Baldwin said he feared Cieszkowski 'was going to run my wife over with his car when he was stealing my parking spot.'

The complaint states: 'Mr Baldwin's statement implies that Mr Cieszkowski was driving dangerously when he pulled into the parking spot and that Mr Cieszkowski was driving quickly enough to "run someone over" and endanger her life.

'That is a malicious fabrication and an intentional lie.'

Cieszkowski's suit also accuses Baldwin of slandering the plaintiff when he discussed the parking spot dispute on The Ellen Show on February 4. During that interview, Baldwin said he feared Cieszkowski 'was going to run my wife over with his car when he was stealing my parking spot'

Cieszkowski's lawsuit briefly outlines Baldwin's has a long history of physical and verbal altercations on the streets of New York.

In 1995 he allegedly punched a cameraman who filmed him and then-wife Kim Basinger returning home from the hospital with their newborn daughter Ireland.

Twenty years later Baldwin again found himself in trouble with the law when he was arrested for being belligerent to a police officer who ticketed him for riding his bike the wrong way in a one-way street.

In 2011, he found himself kicked off an American Airlines plane for slamming a bathroom door after being repeatedly told he needed to stop playing Word With Friends while the flight was preparing for takeoff.

And in 2013 he was suspended for two weeks by MSNBC for an incident in which he called a New York Post photographer a 'c***-s***ing f****t,' with the network then deciding to cancel his show Up late With Alec Baldwin.

Baldwin's most infamous rant however was directed at his daughter, screaming: 'You are a rude, thoughtless little pig.'

He also told her she needed to get her 'a** straightened out' and that she had 'humiliated [him] for the last time'. Ireland was 11 at the time.

Baldwin left the shocking voicemail after his daughter, now 23, had missed a scheduled phone call amid a bitter custody dispute with Basinger.

The actor later said the entire incident left him feeling suicidal.
