New photo Notorious criminal Charles Bronson has rejected claims he tried to bite off a prison governor’s nose saying ‘I’m a vegetarian’

CHARLES Bronson yesterday rejected claims he tried to bite off a prison governor’s nose, telling a court: “I’m a vegetarian.”

Bronson, 65, attacked Mark Docherty after he banned him from keeping snaps of his wedding to ex-Corrie actress Paula Williamson, a jury heard.

Wakefield jail boss Mr Docherty said Bronson went for him, yelling: “I’ll bite your f*****g nose off” before being dragged off by prison guards.

Bronson, who uses the name Charles Salvador, told his alleged victim: “I could have blinded you but I didn’t.

“I could have bit your nose off but I didn’t . . . plus I’m a vegetarian.”

Bronson, who has spent 40 years in jail, also accused Mr Docherty of exaggerating his injuries.

Jurors at Leeds Crown Court were told that, after the incident, Mr Docherty had gone to the prison physio and complained of “whiplash”.

At one point, Bronson turned his back on Mr Docherty, saying it was “in case I start laughing” and said: “Whiplash?

“There’s no way in a month of Sundays you suffered whiplash. The injuries you suffered were very minor.”

Bronson continued: “Little children in a nursery suffer worse injuries than them. Everyone’s seen them photos. Couple of silly little bruises.

“You’re a grown man governor, come on. It’s embarrassing.

“If I’m so dangerous and so violent why have you only got silly little minor injuries? Do you realise I’m an OAP?”

Bronson denies attempted GBH at Leeds crown court. The trial continues.
