A MUM-OF-THREE has revealed that she charges each member of her family £30 for their Christmas dinners after splashing out on hundreds of pounds of food every year.
Hayley Garbutt, who also has four grandchildren, appeared on This Morning to defend her decision to ask her family for help with £500 food bill.

The 50-year-old from North Yorkshire revealed she could barely close her fridge in the run-up to Christmas and admitted to “overspending” to feed her growing family.
With 12 mouths to feed on Christmas Day, Hayley said: “It just got to the point where the family grew and there were more and more grandchildren and I’d have my son and daughters round as well and their partners and it was just too much.”
After finding it difficult to eat out in restaurants with the children, the chief family chef was left with no choice but to ask her children for money towards their Christmas dinner.
Describing how her family responded to the controversial request, Hayley said: “I think they understood. We all sat down and discussed it and they were happy to come to my house and me to cook it all.”

She added: “We make it a massive family gathering. It’s nice we’re all together and it’s not a selfish thing to do.”
And even though the mum-of-three cooks the entire Christmas spread herself, she argues that washing up afterwards is also “how I give back” to the family.
The £500 budget ensures that each member of her family is catered for and even stretches far enough for different cheeses, vegetables and meats.
Not to mention enough wine to satisfy all the eight adults.

Unsurprisingly, the mum’s practical approach to the Christmas dinner bill divided opinion among viewers.
Acknowledging that hosting Christmas can be a mammoth task, one user wrote: “Just ask your guests to bring something. But charging family is terrible.”
Another added: “I don’t believe in charging for Christmas Dinner with the family but it’s nice if everyone can contribute something… one person get the meat, someone else gets desserts etc.”
Unimpressed with the family’s approach, one outraged viewer wrote: “Charging your family for their Christmas lunch is wrong on every level. I love my family and I am so grateful that they all come to ours on Christmas Day and Boxing Day… for free!!”

However, not everyone was so critical of the mum-of-three.
Praising the Yorkshire grandmother for her honest approach, one viewer tweeted: “This lady that hosts Christmas Day for her family on This Morning is a legend!”
Also feeling the pinch this Christmas, another fan added: “We always split the cost of Christmas dinner! It costs far too much for one person.
“I love cooking the Christmas dinner but couldn’t afford it if everyone didn’t share the expense.”
Another simply stated: “That woman is dead right charging £30 for the Xmas dinner!”
