JOSE MOURINHO could finally solve his central defensive issues with Roma’s Kostas Manolas, according to reports.
The highly-rated Greece international has a bargain £32million release clause in his contract.
Manolas, 27, has established himself as an integral part of the Stadio Olimpico side’s success since arriving from Olympiacos in 2014.
Roma were determined to tie him down to a new deal and scrap his release clause but they are facing in the increasing possibility that he will seek an exit to a bigger European club.
United boss Mourinho failed in his attempts to sign a central defender in the summer having missed out on the likes of Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld and Raphael Varane.
But Manolas could finally fill the void he is looking for if they can fend off the interest of Juventus, write Corriere dello Sport.

Manolas put the Red Devils on high alert in the summer when he admitted he is keen on a switch to United.
He said: “It’s only natural you want to play for the biggest clubs, like Barcelona, Man Utd, PSG and Bayern Munich.
“I think I could make the difference anywhere I went, even at Barcelona – although I have never spoken to them.”
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is said to have maintained an interest in Greek star Manolas from his time in Serie A.
