New photo The Lion King first ‘live-action’ trailer sends Disney fans into a frenzy

DISNEY fans were roaring after the first trailer for a live-action The Lion King dropped.


Starring Beyonce, Donald Glover and Seth Rogan, the new film re-imagines the 1994 animated favourite in stunning realistic detail.

The 90 second teaser opens with scenes familiar to anyone who loves the Disney original.


Mufasa, voiced again by James Earl Jones, tells Simba: “Everything the light touches is our kingdom.”


We see photo-real animals including zebras, giraffes and elephants.


Then a tiny cub paw steps into his dad’s huge footprints.


We get a look at some recreated iconic scenes

We also glimpse some fan favourite characters from the 1996 original

Buffalos stampede into a canyon – hinting at one particular heartbreaking sequence from the cartoon.


Then the familiar Zulu intro to Circle of Life kicks in.


We glimpse wise old mandrill Rafiki, who wipes a red line across baby Simba’s face.


And then the cub who-would-be-King is held up on the iconic Pride Rock, as animals rear up below.


Finally we see a grown lion – Mufasa or adult Simba? – roaring at the clouds.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the new trailer

Fans loved the first look.


On wrote: “Can’t stop watching this Lion King trailer.”


Another said: “That trailer has made me all kinds of emotional.”


The film stars Beyonce as Nala, Glover as Simba and Rogan and Billy Eichner as Timon and Pumbaa.


Chiwetel Ejiofor plays evil Scar, John Oliver plays Zazu, and Keegan-Michael Key plays Kamari, one of the terrifying hyena henchmen.

The movie, set to be released in July 2019, is directed by live-action Jungle Book helmer, Jon Favreau.


It will retain the classic Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice soundtrack, and will feature new songs, plus a Hans Zimmer score.


It follows hot on the heels of a live-action Aladdin remake, directed by Guy Ritchie.
