MOST of us remember instantly bonding with other kids on childhood family holidays, but once you return home things are never the same.
But one woman launched an online search to find the “best friend” she met on a cruise 12 years ago, and amazingly managed to track her down.
Brianna, from Mississippi, met Californian artist Heidi on a Hawaiian cruise when they were kids – and they really hit it off.
But the pair, who live a huge 2,000 miles away from each other, haven’t seen each other since 2006, so Brianna’s Twitter appeal was always going to be a stab in the dark.
Posting on Friday night US time, she tweeted: “Hey twitter, I met this girl on a dinner cruise in Hawaii in 2006.
“We were basically bestfriends for that night so I need y’all to help me find my bestfriend cause I miss her and I need to see how she’s doing now. Please retweet this so we can be reunited.”
When Brianna went to sleep a couple of hours later, the post had just nine re-tweets, so she was amazed when she woke up to see it had gone viral.
It now has more than 220,000 likes and 100,000 re-tweets.
And, just 11 hours after the original post, Heidi replied with a selfie, captioned: “Heard you were looking for me”.
In the pic, she is clutching a frame, which contains her own family photo from that very same night.
Heidi told Brianna she hasn’t used Twitter in years, but decided to check out what all the fuss was about when her friends alerted her to the search.
She wrote: “Bruhhh it’s been literal years since I was last on Twitter and the first thing I see is a search party for my a**.
“Most of the friends that alerted me I’ve known since middle school!! I don’t think I changed much in the time span between elementary and middle school, so that’s why.”
Brianna immediately replied: “omg my heart is so happy” and the internet was left in tears over the beautiful millennial love story – sharing dozens of gifs in response.
