A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a policeman was stabbed at a London railway station last night.

British Transport Police said Daniel Adeyemi, 24, was charged following an incident at Ilford railway station, east London, on Friday.

Cops and vigilantes pinned a suspected knifeman to the floor after the British Transport Police officer was knifed outside Ilford Station at 9:45pm on Friday.

Witnesses told how the station was on “complete lockdown” after the attack – which left the station covered in blood.

The officer was rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service for his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The attack is not currently being treated as terror-related.

One person tweeted: “At Ilford station… just come outside and all I see is someone on the floor, blood and police.”

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers are appealing for information after a BTP police officer was stabbed outside Ilford Station earlier this evening (Friday 23 November 2018).

“Around 9.45pm last night a male officer was approached whilst on duty outside Ilford Station and was attacked with a knife.

“The London Ambulance Service has taken the officer to hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

“A man has been arrested. Police are asking that anyone who was at Ilford Railway Station on Friday evening and saw anything of the incident, to please get in touch.”

The stabbing comes in a year of brutal knife attacks as bloodthirsty gangs vie for control of the capital’s streets.

Last week Lawless London reached a new horrifying milestone after five killings saw the murder toll top last year’s.

The grisly toll of 123 homicides includes 70 fatal stabbings and 14 shootings.

Of those, 22 were teenagers.

With more than six weeks still to go in 2018, there are fears the figure will continue to rise as London’s knife epidemic continues.
